At St. Bernard School, middle school students have the opportunity to explore their interests through a variety of elective classes. From 3D Art and Forensics to Band, Choir, Drama, Team Sports, and more, our students are encouraged to develop their skills and creativity. One particularly exciting elective is Tech Trek, a course designed to introduce students to the world of technology and innovation.
Recently, students in Tech Trek had the opportunity to experiment with an invention kit called Makey Makey. This device allows users to turn everyday objects into touchpads that can control a computer. By connecting a Makey Makey to bananas, our students were able to play a digital piano and bongos on their computers—bringing science, technology, and creativity together in a fun and interactive way! If you’re curious to learn more about this incredible invention, visit the Makey Makey website.
But the Tech Trek course doesn’t stop there! Throughout the semester, students will dive into a variety of engaging technological experiences, including:
- Coding – Learning the basics of programming to develop problem-solving skills.
- 3D Printing – Bringing digital designs to life using cutting-edge printing technology.
- BeeBots – Exploring robotics and coding with these interactive educational robots.
By participating in Tech Trek, students are not only developing valuable technical skills but also enhancing their creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities. We are excited to see what new projects and discoveries come next in this innovative class!
