Celebrating Faith, Learning, and Community: Catholic Schools Week 2025

Catholic Schools Week 2025 was a joyful and memorable celebration at St. Bernard School! This special week highlighted our deep commitment to faith, learning, and community, bringing students, staff, and families together for meaningful experiences that showcased the heart of Catholic education.

Afternoon of the Arts 🎨🎶

We kicked off the week on Sunday with our Afternoon of the Arts event, a showcase of student creativity in music, visual arts, and performance. Families gathered in the cafeteria for a classic meal of hot dogs, chips, and soda before exploring the many artistic talents of our students. Throughout the school, guests enjoyed live music performances, poetry readings, and hands-on drumming activities. A highlight of the afternoon was the dynamic performance by Danza San Felipe, a local dance group that captivated the audience. Thank you to everyone who attended and supported our talented students!

Teacher Swap Surprise 👩‍🏫🔄

On Monday, students arrived eager to find out which teacher would be stepping into their classroom for part of the afternoon. The big teacher swap reveal took place during an all-school assembly—captured on Facebook Live for families to witness the excitement! The joy and anticipation in the air were unmistakable as teachers and students embraced this fun shake-up. Each teacher led a special activity in their temporary classroom, making it a memorable experience for both students and staff.

Stop, Drop, and Read 📚✨

Tuesday was all about cozy reading and literary adventures! Throughout the day, when the announcement came on, students paused everything to curl up with a book in their self-made reading nooks. Many brought blankets and pillows to make their space extra cozy. As a sweet treat, students were surprised with freshly popped popcorn during their final reading session—popped that morning by teachers!

Battle of the Units: Gym Games Showdown 🏆🔥

Wednesday was a day of friendly competition and high-energy fun with our much-anticipated Battle of the Units: Gym Games Showdown. Homerooms competed in exciting challenges like: “Hungry, Hungry Humans,” Garbage Toss, Scooter Races, Trivia, The Flag Game, and “Needle in a Haystack.”

The gym was electric with team spirit and enthusiastic cheers! Each winning homeroom received a coveted NUT (No Uniform Today) card as their prize.

Faith and Vocations 🙏🎂

On Thursday, we honored the birthday of Adele Brise with a school-wide Mass, reflecting on the deep faith that connects us as a Catholic school. Students also learned about different vocations, with some hearing Father Adam’s inspiring journey to the priesthood. To mark the occasion, Mr. Gusloff and Ms. Dudzik surprised students with a delicious ice cream treat in honor of Adele’s birthday.

Pep Rally & Teacher Runway 🎉👗

We closed out Catholic Schools Week on Friday with our second-trimester pep rally, hosted by Student Council. The highlight? The teacher runway challenge!

Students had two minutes to dress their teachers in silly, over-the-top outfits before they strutted down the runway in front of the entire school. The three teachers who received the loudest cheers won a popsicle party for their homerooms! The gym was filled with laughter, cheers, and school spirit—an unforgettable way to wrap up the week. Be sure to check out photos of the hilarious outfits on our Facebook and Instagram pages!

Thank You for an Amazing Week!

Each day of Catholic Schools Week featured a unique dress-up theme, adding even more fun to our celebrations. We are incredibly grateful to our students, staff, and families for making this week such a success. It is a true blessing to be a Catholic school rooted in faith and connected to a wonderful parish. Thank you for celebrating with us!
