High Achievers Join The Center

At St. Bernard School, we take pride in celebrating students who challenge themselves and reach new heights in their learning. This year, several of our middle school students earned the opportunity to participate in The Center, an online independent study reading program designed for advanced learners.

Students who score in the 90th percentile or higher on the STAR Reading assessment are eligible to enroll in this accelerated course. The program offers a unique chance for students to explore literature beyond the classroom and engage in higher-level reading and writing experiences.

This year, six St. Bernard students chose to take part in The Center. Through this program, they work with online instructors who guide them through a series of challenging and enriching activities. Participants are required to read novels, complete assignments, write essays, and create projects that deepen their understanding and interpretation of literature. The coursework encourages independent thinking, creativity, and the development of strong communication skills.

The Center is more than just an enrichment opportunity. It allows students to take ownership of their learning and experience what it means to study at an accelerated pace. Each participant balances this independent study alongside their regular schoolwork, demonstrating impressive dedication and self-discipline.

We’re incredibly proud of our students for taking on this challenge and continuing to grow as readers, writers, and thinkers. Their participation in The Center reflects St. Bernard School’s commitment to nurturing a love of learning and providing opportunities for every student to reach their fullest potential.

Congratulations to our six participants for embracing this exciting academic journey!
