At St. Bernard School, we believe in celebrating the rich cultures and traditions that make up our school community. From September 15 to October 15, we are joining schools and organizations across the country in honoring National Hispanic Heritage Month.
Throughout the month, students will take part in fun and educational activities designed to highlight the history, achievements, and contributions of Hispanic Americans. Our celebrations include:
- Weekly Dress-Up Days – Each Wednesday, students can wear a specific color or themed outfit to represent different countries. From vibrant reds for Mexico to bright yellows for South America, these dress days bring energy and joy to our hallways.
- Trivia and Classroom Activities – Students will test their knowledge of Hispanic history and culture through engaging trivia challenges and learning opportunities.
- Stories in the Library – Mrs. Alvarez, our librarian, is sharing books by Hispanic authors and stories that reflect diverse voices, helping students see themselves and others represented in literature.
By weaving these celebrations into our school days, we not only have fun but also deepen our understanding of the traditions and cultures that shape our community. With over half of our student body having a Hispanic background, this month is an important time to celebrate identity, heritage, and pride together.
At St. Bernard, we are committed to ensuring that every student feels seen, valued, and celebrated. National Hispanic Heritage Month gives us a meaningful opportunity to live out that mission and continue building a school culture rooted in respect, joy, and unity.
