Each November, our school community comes together for one of the most meaningful traditions of the year: the Thanksgiving Baskets Project. This year, every grade level participated by collecting a wide variety of food items, filling our halls with generosity and reminding us what it truly means to care for one another. Thanks to the kindness of our students, families, and parish community, we were able to support fifty families in need this Thanksgiving.
After weeks of collecting donations, our third graders took on the important job of packing each basket. They worked thoughtfully and carefully, choosing which items to include based on each family’s size and needs. Their sense of responsibility and empathy was evident as they organized the boxes and made sure every family would feel supported.
Once the boxes were packed, the students created handmade cards for each family. These notes served as heartfelt reminders that the baskets were gathered with care and prepared with love. The cards were simple gestures, yet they carried the spirit of gratitude and compassion that defines this project each year.
In addition to the incredible amount of food donated, our community also contributed generous monetary gifts. Because of this support, we were able to include a grocery gift card in every basket, offering families continued assistance beyond the holiday season.
This project is always a powerful reminder that what we do as a school community matters. When we come together, we make a real and lasting difference. We are deeply grateful for the generous hearts of our students, families, and parish members who continue to show up when it counts.
Thank you, St. Bernard School and Parish, for living out the spirit of giving so beautifully.
